"So i just came out to my dad abt being #nb, and he said something really wise about names, i think.
He said “Gifts are not obligations. You give things to people, and you hope they like them. And your name was a gift from us to you. If it doesn’t work for you anymore, you’re not obligated to keep it.”
and i just thought maybe other people could use hearing something like that."

@grainloom Your dad sounds awesome. I'm glad he's supportive.
@BrightEyedDyer (that was a quote from a tumblr post)
@BrightEyedDyer (i should probly use Markdown style quotes coz they are more visible >_<)
@grainloom Meh, I'm old and unobservant. It's a really nice thought though. Thanks for posting it.
@grainloom that is so beautiful!
@grainloom I dig it. I changed my name when my given one no longer applied. When we named our kid, I vowed to assist with the paperwork and cost of changing eir name as soon as e seemed competent enough to pick a name (I don't plan on personally paying for it multiple times...).
I like my names like I like my family: intentional, supportive and covered in bees... (wait, one of those isn't right...)
@grainloom
Love that sentiment, and very nicely expressed 😀
@grainloom heckin
