The UK Government are reviewing the Gender Recognition Act, consultation to be published in autumn 2017.

It'll consult on abolishing the gender recognition panel, gender recognition for people, and basically removing all medical requirements for changing your legal gender as a person.

@WelshPixie I know right! :D I knew it was coming but oh my gosh!

IF YOU ARE LGBTQ+ and IN THE UK and ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE OR

Please take part in this UK Government survey that was launched today. It's part the upcoming reform of the Gender Recognition Act.

At the moment if you're trans you have to be diagnosed, live in role, and then go before a panel of cis judges who decide whether you're trans enough to fix your birth certificate.

This consultation is likely to remove that requirement, and also introduce legal recognition for nonbinary people.

@cassolotl we're working to get rid of that in sweden too! they still exist but at least you don't have to go to a court hearing anymore. really glad to see this :)

@ginnungagap Ahhh that's awesome. :) I'm so glad it's moving in the right direction for you too!

@cassolotl That sounds amazing! I wish my government would do the same.

@Dimduning Gosh, I really hope this stuff is inevitable and just a matter of time. <3 I hope they do something similar ASAP!
