Okay I've finished reading Tim's letter, and the "How It Works" section of the website and...
I'm really not convinced.
Yes, you can have a server for your own data that interoperates with as many apps as want to support it. Great.
You can self-host your data or use a managed server. Also great.
I don't see how any of this stops an unscrupulous app developer (i.e. Facebook) from hoovering up as much data as possible and storing that shit in its own database.
