@zigg I remember reading about how the census in one country (Austria?) had data on religion. Totally innocuous in intention. Just good old demographic data! And then the Nazis came knocking. Fortunately, the people responsible for the data tried destroying it and just about succeeded, so it didn't cause as much harm as it could have.
