I'm considering moving my primary mastodon activity away from (currently dead) manowar.social :loading:

I'm thinking of trying to compartmentalize my(net)self a bit, and make specialized accounts.
I already have this one as a personal alt, but I might convert it to :crt_w_green_lines: weird-tech-cybre-dreams

Probable accounts:
:crt_w_prompt: tech ideas and exploits
:blobross: art & culture

Please boost, as I only have 11 followers here and @ me with suggestions! :thaenkin:

@zatnosk Hah, manowar.social had actually come online before writing this post (uptime tells me it went online an hour ago), I just hadn't noticed!

But I still want to diversify.

@zatnosk @zatnosk we have space on .rocks :)

Most members don't post as fast as some of the other instances but that means the users largely interact with other instances. (Which is good.)

@zatnosk You can also try mstdn.io where there's a fair amount of users and the domain sure is sweet and short :-)

@zatnosk as much as I love Mastodon, it's hard to decide where to put yourself at the best of times

@zatnosk just because I don't "follow" you doesn't mean I don't follow you ;)

@zatnosk MANOWAR.social? Was it based on metal? \\m//,

@Canageek it was meant as a parallel to mastodon.social, since manowar is also:
* a great metal band
* an animal (jellyfish, not as glamorous as a trunked mammal)
* a word starting with m

I just ended up deciding against opening it up, so I've been using it as a single-user instance for my main account ( @zatnosk )

@zatnosk There's a few various arts and culture instances, some of which are more focused on a particular discipline than others. Are you looking for a general arts and culture instance, or something more specific?

@shoutcacophony I'm thinking it would be something where I would talk about most stuff not related to my tech exploits nor personal things - movies, (audio)books, games, art, etc.

I'm halfway considering mastodon.art, but I don't want to make an account there, if I'm not going to upload some form of art regularly (which could be from the backlog of my years of amateur photo-ing).

So yeah, something general in the art and/or culture direction :)

@zatnosk Understood. :) It seems like general arts/culture sites aren't that common -- there are a few, though:

tootplanet.space/about
mastodon.cc/about

There's also creativity cafe, but their cert is invalid, fwiw

There's also a spreadsheet for masto arts folks: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d

Good luck!

... okay, y'all can stop boosting this now. Thanks everyone, I have a culture/art alt on icosa now:
