@eal my main problem is that I'm not familiar with exploitation techniques other than fill-the-buffer-n-overwrite-ret nor elf layout… so yeah, I have to draw it down a lot. but it's good learning!

Whenever I'm confused or lost with ASM, I draw the control flow by hand (branch at every jump). A faster and simpler way would be to use an analyzer.
