I decided to install emacs so I could look at the org mode everyone is talking about.
My first document pretty much looked like:

:q!

@balrogboogie Oh, this looks interesting. Evil mode build in kinda thing?
@viciousviscosity yep, evil mode is built in, along with a bunch of other nice stuff. I used it for a while and really liked it, then I got a new laptop and haven't taken the time to get it back up and configured again 🤦
@emdeesee @viciousviscosity I seriously considered buying a USB foot pedal keyboard so that I could do Ctrl and Meta with my feet. I was talked out of it by someone who said they'd tried it and that feet don't move fast enough so it actually slows you down.
(Now that I think about it, even beyond muscle fiber types and whatnot, just nerve conduction time is a problem.)
@varx @emdeesee @viciousviscosity All you need to do is swap ctrl and capsLock.
@steelman @emdeesee @viciousviscosity Yeah, I've already put `/usr/bin/setxkbmap -option 'ctrl:nocaps'` in my startup script so that my caps is a ctrl key. It does help!
And a friend of mine has his set up so that holding caps makes it work as a ctrl key, but tapping it makes it work as esc. He hasn't come out to me as such, but I suspect he's bitextual.
@varx @emdeesee @viciousviscosity Get a Keyboardio Model01, and use your palms. Faster and more comfortable than feet. (At least I hope so. I've yet to try foot pedals..)
@varx @viciousviscosity You only need to be listening to the right music while typing to realize the trouble with pedals...
@viciousviscosity well, that's harmless.
it's much worse when, as a emacs user, end up in vim session and go CTRL-x-s
you do know what happens next?

@viciousviscosity You should install evil mode right away or try spacemacs!
@viciousviscosity tooooootally feel your pain. I think I used vanilla emacs for a hot minute before I gave up and switched to spacemacs
