snatcher appreciation post!!!
in 1988 hideo kojima wrote and directed a cyberpunk visual novel called "snatcher"
i'm currently playing the english sega cd port on my 3DS via an emulator and it's just ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
it literally opens up with a dedication in the intro that says "this story is dedicated to all those cyberpunks who fight against injustice and corruption every day of their lives"
the graphics are gorgeous, the world-building is top-notch, i can't wait to see where it goes next
good news and bad news peeps
the bad news is, i've just heard some very bad things about the retroarch developers
the good news is, you don't even actually need retroarch to play this -- you can just download picodrive directly!!!

but the day before it arrived her console shat the bed and now we cant play it - we are both super devistated

@eclectic @vantablack pardon my intrusion. I’m a retro console enthusiast and will be willing to help fix your Sega CD. When you turn on the CD and nothing happens. No lights, bios music anything odds are the fuse blew.

happy to have played through it as well, as difficult as it was in places

@eredien first you need a hacked 3DS https://3ds.hacks.guide/
then you need retroarch https://docs.libretro.com/guides/install-3ds2ds/
you'll want the "picodrive" core in particular
put the sega cd BIOS (you can get it from archive.org) in the "system" folder
then you run the .cue file to play the game (it can also be found on archive.org)

also love how it references the metal gear solid games with the helper bot, like its intro with the Very Familiar Shadow on the wall, then "yeah it's inspired by the metal gear incidents, don't worry tho this robot can't actually attack, isn't it cute?"
