@uranther Hello :) What resources do you have for folks that want to get started with #meditation? Also if meditation == mindfulness or something else entirely?

@superruserr I would recommend starting with in Plain English by Ven. Henepola Gunaratana. It presents a secular (accessible!) form of breathing that can form the basis for any spiritual practice.

From there, I think it depends on your disposition and what you want to study.

@uranther Thank you for the link! I need to take part in this more often.

Going to post a screenshot that I like (Excuse to text).

@superruserr Although different traditions will define differently - it can be understood as moment-to-moment remembering of the object. And then there is the commercialized versions such as Mindfulness Based Reduction.

Meditation is not about spacing out and feeling relaxed. It is about strengthening our concentration on meaningful, joyful objects. Meditation music is also discouraged because it can cause distractions.

@superruserr @uranther Hi! I'd start with Also, from my current understanding meditation includes mindfulness but it's more than that. There are many forms of meditation and the goal is broader.

Welcome @uranther! You joined an instance full of cyber and cypher folks, super cool. ;)
