OK I didn't realize #Emacs was so actively developed that I need the latest version and develop branch of #Spacemacs to get functionality that #Vim had ages ago.
I'm talking about :set textwidth=80
I think I'm okay with this because as they say, who wants to write Vim script anyway? 
@uranther indenting text is also fun, i never figured out how to replicate what (almost) every editor i've ever used had: selecting a block of text and pressing tab/shift-tab to indent/unindent
automatic indentation based on syntax sure is nice but when it messes up, i don't wanna have to debug ELisp
the Acme alternative (using Edit commands and a separate formatter like rustfmt, gofmt, etc) is much cleaner imho
