By now, I have submitted my Google "Takeout" over a month ago and still nothing! Matter of fact, just checking now and all it says is "No completed archives available." Click "View history" and all I get is one archive of 50 products worth 1 megabyte.
wtf? Also, zipping folders in Google Drive will fail every time once it becomes large enough. These fuckers are going to make me do everything piecemeal.
@niconiconi I have to extricate myself. It's a process...
Same is the case with Instagram.
I had used it for two years and must've got them a terrabyte of data.
Still, all they got me was 45MB of low quality shit images.

@officialcjunior not to be duped again...
@uranther
That's one of the reasons why I moved to VSCO, which is another photo sharing platform focused on art rather than selfies with duck faces
There's no comments, likes, followers count or anything and the feed is somewhat chronological, and other people can easily discover me
And they host the photos in high quality.
I downloaded my data the other day, and found most of pictures in very good quality with sizes near to 2MB,
But, what Instagram gave me was a 50KB thumbnail.
@officialcjunior @uranther Higher res versions can be had from Instagram if you reach under the covers.
@officialcjunior @uranther Exactly. They try to obfuscate but browser dev tools will show what image resources are coming over the network. I do it by hand on occasion. Automating shouldn’t be that tough with basic scripting fu.
I'll add that they didn't even extend the courtesy to notify me that the archive creation process failed.
@uranther Yeah, last year I exported my data and turned off everything I can. The search logs literally recorded my life...
While most people don't even know Google has a "privacy options" page. The EFF should write an article for it, as they've already written something similar for Facebook users.
