Most likely be steel. Maybe aluminum, but only if it doesn't bump the material costs up too much and offers enough stability (need working FEM solver setup to decide).

I'm trying to keep material costs below 15k€.

Got access to cnc mills, industrial robots and a other nice tools (but have ~0 experience with them)

For durability I'm going for the opposite of planned obsolescence with all components being replaceable.

Bonus: Sturdy enough to survive a T. Rex attack.

Yeah, I know about OSE, but I'm not even sure there's an actual project behind it…

Tell me if you manage to find any actual downloadable designs on their site. Because I don't think I've ever found any. Just overview sites with pretty pictures, links to empty documentation and - for some reason - embedded google docs.

The more I look at the thing, the more it seems like a cult or something… ^^;
