Flick went to absolute shit after Yahoo bought them, but apparently they've now been sold to some other internet photo company that I've never heard of before. I have to tentatively assume this is a good thing, because it'll be nice to have a social pic-hosting service that isn't Zuck-affiliated... But this "SmugMug" is a total unknown to me, so it seems likely that they suck as well.

@tobascodagama i was a strong Flickr supporter pre-yahoo, and similarly know littlr about Smug. That said, the reaction in my feeds is 100% positive, with lots of smart folks saying they're glad its with a company that cares, so I guess I'll be positive too.
@tobascodagama I have photog friends who preferred smugmug way back, but I don't know much more than that.
Interesting news.
@tobascodagama I've had some experience with SmugMug -- a few summer camps use them for uploading camp photos. They're definitely a legit on-top-of-things, like they're not planning to just harvest stuff or scam or anything.
I haven't had much experience, but what I have has been good. I'm hopeful.
@gaditb That's heartening!
@tobascodagama owner runs standard business model - paid accounts only, no free-with-ads bullshit. No creating/selling user profiles. Probably no facial recognition. Very good at listening to users. No outside investors/start-up mentality.
@tobascodagama a lot of pros use it...not sure if it's because it's good or what
