I find it extremely hard to care about video games these days and I don't really like that about myself

Happy Beltane! happy international worker's day! Combine them and [redacted] your local capitalist.

I think it's bad to fill hashtags many use in earnest up with jokes that frankly are not that funny

Did you see the news that all of the #JWST instruments are aligned now?

Check out this comparison of one of the newly released calibration images from the MIRI instrument compared to images taken of the same region of space by the WISE and Spitzer space telescopes! Look at that resolution! So many newly resolved stars and structures! 🤩

I can't wait for all the new discoveries we'll make with JWST! #Science data starts in only a couple months!

Hey! If any of you new, or old, users started using #Tusky recently and appreciate it, please consider donating a little coin.

Currently our only expense is paying for the work I do, at a set amount each month, and some hosting / domain stuff.

But the tip is always welcome! We even have a tier for $1/month (once a year)! Which I thought was pretty nifty.

normally i do not care about rust's compile times but when i'm constantly building multiple crates which depend on each other it can get! kind of annoying!

Headache today so not pushing myself. Discovered the chemical safety board has a YouTube channel detailing accident investigations.

Best quote: Saying most accidents are due to worker errors is like saying most falls are for to gravity

Hey, can I just take a moment to invite new people to check out @powderpaint, a really excellent queer synthpop band from the Fediverse?

Give them a listen or download the tracks at powderpaint.bandcamp.com

"Constellation" is probably the best starting point ✨

I am unreasonably happy about having an 8-port POE switch

guix using a lisp for this is MUCH better. unfortunately, guix

i don't really understand why uses nixlang

it's by far the worst, and worst documented, part of the entire system

and, in addition to this, so much of the ecosystem requires _reading_ nixlang; in order to understand how many of the nixos options work, you have to read their source code

that would be much less awful if it were an easy-to-use language, or if it could be reliably learned in a few hours by everyone in the demographic they want to use the system

unfortuantely, that's not possible, not because the language is very complex - it's not - but because there is no good introductory text. nix-pills conflates nixlang and the nix package manager far too much

the nix user experience is a step function; getting started is hard, but then you get some benefits, until you run into a fucking brick wall of learning all of nixlang and a zillion weird generators

okay hear me out. a LV90000 but instead of a single trainer board it supports a whole series of them and you move through them like a Rolodex
