This is more of a stub of a project, but maybe the idea makes sense for you, as a transitioning step until github is wholly out of fashion:
basically just mirroring the code on GitHub, but setting the "default branch" viewed there to one that only tracks the README with a notice of the "canonical" project location (hosted elsewhere)
