tired: joining mastodon.social, treating it as a centralized Twitter-like, making two complaints about “toot” and leaving
wired: joining any other instance with a community that reflects who you are, SURF THE FEDIVERSE
also tired: Joining mastodon.social, not reading the rules, doing something stupid, treating it like a centralized Twitter-like, and then reeing about your free speech rights from your (still-federated) GS account after you get banned
@sophia Ok, but I want to point out that for many of us new users, Mastodon.Social is an entry point, and it's not unusual to feel lost about all those instances and about the way they work.
@m0n5t3r being alone isn’t wired at all
@sophia
So what about joining an instance at near-random and staying because it might not be the perfect fit, but isn't intolerable?
OTOH, I do sometimes wonder what wonderful instance-local conversations I'm missing out on by not being on a math- or cs-focused instance.
@fizbin I recommend experimentation above all!
@sophia I’d be wired if I could move between instances
