Lableism: The act of intentionally removing web form labels and replacing them with placeholder text. Usually done in an effort to make form fields more aesthetically pleasing, while leaving blind and low vision users out in the cold. (michaelspellacy.com/lableism/)

@spellacy I tend to use labels to explicitly denote the form field, while using placeholders to give an example of formatting: (e.g.: a label that says "E-mail Address" and a placeholder that's like "foo@example.com")
