like, way too creepy or something?
(In my defense, the interface seems to be optimized to direct my activity towards exactly that. But if it *does* come across as creepy, then I'd definitely want to know, so I can try to stop doing that!)
Fedi etiquette question:
I noticed A Thing I Do, and realized I'm not sure if it's considered "good form" or "eh, whatevs" or maybe even "what?? too weird!! no, absolutely do *not* do that!"
If I see a cool post I think "oo, maybe the person who posted it is cool!" and click through to their profile. So I can see if maybe I wanna follow them. But then "look at a few posts to decide with" turns into "scrolling through their posts until I remember something else I wanted to do" and then I end up favoriting or boosting things from longer ago than I realized.
Suddenly today it occurred to me there might be a possibility people might get weirded out to see some stranger suddenly like several of their ancient posts in a row. That maybe it might be seen as "weird and stalkerish" to be "digging that far into their old posts"?
But maybe on the other hand it's fine and "a sign this person likes the things the poster likes" and is a good thing.
So my question is: is this thing I noticed that I do okay? Or is it (...)
That’s right, it’s #SpaceTalkTuesday time! This week it’s all about ~exoplanetary habitability~
What does habitability really mean? Do we know of any habitable #exoplanets? How will we be able to study them now and in the future?
Follow along for answers to these #science questions and more!
(fair warning, this will be a long thread. the threaded posts are unlisted as a best practice, but you can still boost them)
The "Ugliness" of Bad People
With all the really ugly things happening in the world right now, a lot of folks are understandably looking for reasons to hate the terrible people who hold the blame. One I see people fixate on time and time again are components of physical appearance, and that sucks. Of all the things to focus on!!
Fascists are ugly because of the things they do, have done, and wish to do; not because of someone's subjective opinions regarding their physical appearance.
#Ukulele time!
If people actually *like* when I put my seemingly-insignificant thoughts where they can see them, maybe I'll do it more often?
In that light, I actually slept last night. Then woke up, ate some food to catch up from not eating enough during the day, and then slept some more.
This bodes well for today.
New here, don't yet know what to put here.
