Record yourself saying the following and post it:

"Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station. "

Hey all uhhhh I don't know why some of you have the impression that I'm using the posts for something it are sending them to me directly. It's just a fun meme for you and your friends to compare how you talk and pronounce words with the ulterior motive of getting people to read something silly. I'm getting questions about what fine format I need it in and the answer is none cuz I'm not doing anything with this besides listening to the posts by my friends

@chr What did you use to record yourself? i just used my lil photobooth/webcam thing but the file is tooo big

@Keltoi i used audacity and then added the visualization with ffmpeg while converting it to mp4

@chr Herm i lack this thing, i shall find another way!! though my accent is p much the same as yours, my Reading Things Voice is a bit different in terms of emphasis and pacing.

@shel I have a weird accent due to moving around a whole lot. I grew up in Minnesota, raised by east coasters; lived in Scotland for a half year, Canada for 2 years, then California for 10. There are fragments of all of those in my accent today. ^^;

@mawr @shel

took about 4 takes for anything I was half satisfied with and only used internal mic on laptop but its at least just about audible. If its slightly slurred I've only recently taken some pre-bedtime medication which can have that effect..

@vfrmedia @shel @wilbr Ahh! I viewed the link directly on mastodon.social. Awesome. ^^

@shel

Three from me, my usual mangled voice, my attempt at welsh from living there for a bit, and the town of my birth in the black country, in Dudley near Birmingham in the UK.

I suspect my Black Country accent is as bad as my Welsh really.

Sad the text didn't include the word "sure", which is very different in Dudley, where they say it more like shew-er.

@mxsparks @shel that sounds almost exactly like my accent. (I don't have access to a microphone right now, or the faintest clue about how to post a sound file, so I'm going to pass on putting up my own sample!)

@shel i hate my voice, but here's me. i'm probably talking too quietly but it's late and i don't want to wake people instaud.io/1qyT

@wilbr @shel i don't normally talk that liltingly, i just didn't want to talk monotone, and ended up overcompensating haha

@shel owo that sounds difficult for my german tongue...

Also i have no clue how to record it with my phone

@shel oh gosh I am really excited to do this, will get to it tomorrow :3

@shel I hope this is not part of a voice replicating tool to make me confess to a crime I didn't commit.
instaud.io/1qAP

@shel I'm so tempted to do one in my retail voice and one in my exhausted voice

One is like three octaves or more lower

@shel you're not getting me, I saw Sneakers, I know your tricks

@shel I feel like if I say this near the wrong person it launches ze missiles or something.

@shel I'm tempted to do this in multiple accents.

@shel Now feed these into an AI to generate speech of each and every of the posters.

Looks a lot like a way to harvest biometrics. 😈
