@shel Democrats do not currently control all three branches of government. Democrats also didn't extend existing policies to create this crisis. What solution can they even offer under the current circumstances?

@debugninja they are offering this bill called the "keep families together act" which would change nothing but like, put the parents in the same camps as the kids and that's fucking it

@debugninja and they're not even gonna pass it and if they do nobody is gonna fucking enforce it and it's worthless as a solution to this problem but it's the primary action being pushed as where to channel your energ

@shel That's entirely consistent with the weak tea, empty and feckless Democratic party I have come to expect.

Don't even bother criticizing them because they will not hear it and if you support even the mildest of progressive / non establishment candidates you are ostracized from the party.

@debugninja i think it's worth criticizing them because they occupy the place of "resistance" and "opposition" right now and all actions to stop the administration are in some manner controlled by the dems or involve trying to pressure them

and i think expressing total and utter no confidence in them is useful to push ppl to stop supporting them and try somthing more radical

@ethoslibre sorry to break it to you but Obama deported more people than any prior president in history, and the "baby jails" were started under Obama. Trump created the policy of putting the kids in separate cells from their parents but this isn't a trump thing and ousting trump won't stop this just like ousting Bush didn't result in Guantanamo closing. the last set of concentration camps america held, Japanese Internment, was under FDR.

@ethoslibre this is especially bad but it's not new. the more openly fascist and hard to ignore atrocities are just what you're now aware of more viscerally but it's not new.

and electing Kamala Harris or whoever in 2020 won't fix it.

@drwho i suggest taking the time to curl up in the corner and cry. it'll be easier that way. and feeling that raw powerful emotion, the crying, for other people who you have never met. that is a good thing. it is good that you can cry for them. it is fuel in the fire of your engine. it can drive you to take action in ways you never have before
