@s0 those particular trains are 60% local content by value. Bogies from Bendigo, motors from Morwell, interior from Hallam (ex-car industry company) and so on.
What's the difference between them and the last Melbourne train order, which was built in Victoria with *less* local content? The manufacturing lead for the new one is CRRC (Chinese), the older one Alstom (French).
