Ridiculous, absurd, intense, extreme, surprising, worrying, ignorant, thoughtless... I could go on. The English language is full of excellent adjectives! Use them, folks. You don't need to default to the handful that punch down, because of habit or a lack of imagination on your part.

@s0 I'd also opine it's a good idea to consider whether the behaviour you're considering unusual is something you should be working to understand rather than alienate, since you're building a narrative of what is and isn't "normal" here. Context matters (as you put in the original post, Sophie).
