Thoughts on donations in social media
I'm watching a friend ask for donations. She is a very kind person, and it shatters me to see her thank for every little donation given to her. Why? Because it's almost a day since she requested it, and donations haven't passed 20% of what she needs.
Even if your post gets 500 boosts, no more than 10 people donate, and of those, it's 1 or 2 who make the most contributions.
If 100 people donated $4 or $5 each, that would be HUGE. But usually it's 2 people donating $50 or $100.
Unfortunately "short-lived" is a characteristic of social media. So anyone seeking donations has to ask every day, again, and again.
The whole thing is mentally exhausting and emotionally heartbreaking.
