@rick_777 I wish I could be this optimistic, but I know people who can't even install an app on their own and I live in a country which is creating internment camps for the second time in its history.

I never said it would be instant. But think about the young: they learned how to set up kazaa, and bittorrent. They learn how to set up TOR. Surely they'll be able to learn how to set up an account in an alternative server.

I've been following technology fire a while, and heavy technological advances usually become mainstream from 15 to 20 years, in my experience.

In the late 90s we had Napster, and now there are things like SoundCloud and Bandcamp. 18 yeats, but you can't stop grassroot progress.

The same thing will happen to the internet. The thing is, we're already seeing small flashes of change.

I remember the early 00s. There were already blogger and Myspace and geocities. Now it's Medium. Technology avances and becomes more accessible with time. But the leaders, the bold, the tinkerers, they're the ones doing the big changes. It's not visible until much later when it reaches critical mass; but the important part: the core, the seed of change, it's happening now.
