witches.town / SaaS critique Show more

@herrabre "If you depend on other people for your healthcare and infrastructure, let alone for your judicial identity, access to legal recourse and social life offline - you will get screwed WHEN (not if) their needs and your diverge".

We always depend on each other. The question is if there are structures in place to support a peaceful transition between changes in governance and other important people. For witches.town there were no such structures in place. For other instances, there are.

Which is why federation still makes sense (at least it's not Twitter).

IDEA: How about incorporating for, you know, identity validation? And not just for problems like witches.town, there's also the thing and 's new , Alexa getting hacked... there will be tons of problems forcing us to adopt .

So even with Federation, we should adopt PKI to say "yes, this is me alright!"

certificates for people are LONG OVERDUE.
