i enjoy the way in which open world games try to justify their world borders
in saints row 2 i tried to leave stilwater by boat and the game just spat out "Don't leave, the Saint leave you in Stilwater!" and spun me back around

@ratwithscarf Total Distortion is the earliest game i can think of that absolutely and intentionally grills the hell out of you for dying and i think that's a beautiful thing
part of me does want extended miserable game over that's just "and then the boss left stilwater, never to be seen again. the saints crumbled and died without them around," but that's just because i'm like that sometimes
