"Everything we do to make it harder to create a website or edit a web page, and harder to learn to code by viewing source, promotes that consumerist vision of the web.

Pretending that one needs a team of professionals to put simple articles online will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Overcomplicating the web means lifting up the ladder that used to make it possible for people to teach themselves and surprise everyone with unexpected new ideas."

@grainloom i have so many mixed feelings about that essay.

always coming home @nightpool

@er1n @grainloom my meta-level mixed feelings are mostly "maciej says some really smart stuff sometimes but he's also a huge asshole". for my specific mixed feelings on that essay see the linked tumblr post

@er1n @grainloom oh yeah his whole social media persona is built around being the biggest asshole around, in the typical infosec twitter way of "i get to be an asshole to people who are wrong and causing harm by being wrong". it's not THAT bad, but I definitely unfollowed him because it was getting really tiring seeing Today's Hot Take

@grainloom @er1n (maciej has mostly chilled out since he put his effort into actually really useful political organization, so i guess there's that)

@nightpool @grainloom okay actually i agree with some of your points but
wow

i might write about this sometime

@nightpool @er1n @grainloom linked tumblr post?

this is interesting I've never heard of thise person.

@LottieVixen @er1n @grainloom i mean it's probably not that interesting unless you have specific opinions on HTTP requests and modern website optimization but I linked it in another reply to the root post.
