@niconiconi I did a similar fix with a discontinued Dallas RTC. They have a sealed-in battery, and when they die, that's it. There's no new production, and old stock is likely to have the same issue.

So I dremeled away part of the plastic packaging and soldered a CR3055 battery holder to the contacts inside the part. Then superglued it to the top.

It ain't pretty, but it works. And if that battery ever dies, it'll be easy to replace.
