use poly-inclusive language. instead of saying

“is your better half coming?”

say

“can we expect one of the many people who is objectively better than you?”

nothing worse than finding a horrible grammatical error in a post that has already been pushed down the conveyor belt into the hungry eyeballs of my screaming disciples

@neufv having small grammatical errors in your good toots are definitely not a problem you need to worry about

@neufv
Will one of the many people who is objectively better than you be writing your toots?

@neufv is your better undefined fraction coming

@Kaffe @neufv And when the undefined fraction enters the room...

NaN NaN NaN NaN NaN NaN Batman!

@Shonalika @neufv
"Mi media naranja." ❌
"Mi quarto naranja." ✔️
"L@s otr@s ramas de mi arbol." ✔️ ✔️

@amsomniac @funnypanja okay i read the articles and i don’t think it’s important to correct when the context of my post makes it very clear which variant of the abbreviation i mean

@neufv @amsomniac

It's not about bystanders confusing the two. It's about not erasing PoC.

Bystanders are always gonna assume you mean polyam. It's about respecting PoC.

@funnypanja @amsomniac like if i say “i typed a draft” it doesn’t erase the meaning of draft as military service or draft in my house, so how is this different

@funnypanja @amsomniac and? if someone tells me to stop using a word because it has negative connotations i will absolutely do that. but this is about wanting to use a word that refers to one group to also, in certain contexts, refer to another group. i don’t see why we can’t have both

@neufv @amsomniac

Because Polynesian people deserve to have their own term, their own place, their own advocacy etc.

@funnypanja @neufv so using multiamors instead of poly is more

poly-inclusive language.

@amsomniac @neufv

It's not really about inclusion of Polynesian people inside the polyamorous community, it's just about respecting Polynesians in general.

@funnypanja @amsomniac look, i can see how there are situations in which it isn’t clear. so of course i won’t abbreviate it when the context is ambiguous. but if it’s clear from context, i don’t see the problem

@neufv @amsomniac

I don't see your problem with just using polyam instead. Why can't you let the Polynesian community have their own label?

@amsomniac @neufv

Eroticism doesn't equal amory/love.

Multiamory would be an alternative.

@neufv 😂
that hardly limits the scope of people to expect..
