@myrrlyn You can set the compression method to just .tar in /etc/makepkg.conf (just remember to regularly clean the package cache because that accumulates fast)

Seriously why the hell am I xzipping AUR packages and then immediately xunzipping them

pacman should accept bare directories and just overlay them on / because THAT'S WHAT PKG.TAR.XZ DOES ANYWAY

@myrrlyn I wonder if that's a holdover from the arch folks smoking one too many unixes and thinking "whoa, what if cp -r was implemented by piping tar into itself" cuz that's how plan9 does it
