errors=panic is a user on cybre.space. You can follow them or interact with them if you have an account anywhere in the fediverse.

I planned to participate in but I'm hitting a hard case of and emotional -ness.

Really trying not to beat myself up over this but ... ugh. 😐

But hey, instead of coding I do research on stuff that I might get to use for if I get over the block, so that's something.

(Right now: Astronomical coordinate systems, ie. how to describe a things position in the galaxy. )

Hmmm, ok, so the milky way galaxy has a diameter of ~160000 lightyears and our sun is ~26000 ly from the galactic center.

So for objects on the far side of the center from us, our max distance is ~100000 ly, while on the opposite direction, the maximum is merely ~60000 lightyears.

Of course, if we go above and below the galactic plane, distances are much smaller.

Hm, hm, hm...

This might be trickier than I first thought.

Ok, I might be overengineering this.
