But hey, instead of coding I do research on stuff that I might get to use for if I get over the block, so that's something.

Of course, now I'm thinking "Hmmm, I wonder how hard it would be to generate coordinates for galactic objects that didn't just look right (ie. be a long/lat/distance 3-tuple) but were actually reasably plausible?

I mean, maximal distance for objects in our galaxy varies a lot depending on the direction, since we are very much not in the center of it.

Shouldn't be tooo hard to figure out, once I wrap my head around the coordinate system...
