uhh, no idea if it checks those out but #BattleblockTheatre has some kinda co-op and my sister has been playing it for a few days and she loves it

#CryptOfTheNecroDancer has single-keyboard co-op and is pretty fun

both are on steam and have simple controls
CotND is easy to learn but hard to master, especially the more advanced items, afaik BBT is the same

@minx What about Crawl? I've heard good things about it. It's a 1 vs (rest) with the "1" rotating.

I think there's controller support of the kind specified, not sure though.
