noob server security stuff question
I mean I am using a key so it shouldn't be that easy right? But still I only followed some very short "how to secure your server" guide and know nothing about any of that, so who knows.
Re: noob server security stuff question
@maunzikation I agree that you have probably not much to worry about, but I do not agree that those questions were silly. I needed to look it up as well.
@tom yeah, like, it's supposed to be the fast thing! and then sometimes it's not! and sometimes you don't know if it's just taking its time to show things or if actually the connection is gone,, like me earlier,, well.
@maunzikation can I give you some advice for using mastodon maintenance tasks like removing remote media?
@maunzikation it's always a good idea to run things inside tmux, it essentially allows you to keep ssh sessions active even when you disconnect from your server
@maunzikation it also allows you to have multiple virtual sessions open so you can run stuff that takes a while in a tmux "window" while doing other stuff in another window
@tom aah, thank you! i used that once, because the mastodon install guide recommended it, and then all the other times i felt like "uuuh i'd have to look that up again" so i didn't, but it'd make so much sense. *looks it up*
