Oh heh, I forgot I had javascript disabled so the map widget didn't work, it just said "Invalid coordinates supplied." It was funny though, trust me

To illustrate the "bridge to nowhere", the wikipedia article helpfully provides a map of nowhere en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravina_

Now that anyone can download facerig and turn themselves into a talking sandwich for their twitch stream, what even counts as "special effects" anymore? Has it become a meaningless term? Now that everything's CG, are all effects special? Should effects that don't use CG be the special ones now?

If I were employed on a mission to terraform mars, rather than perform my assigned task of making it habitable enough for the ruling class to escape the hell planet they created, I would simply shirk my duties and live a life of introspection and simple self-sufficiency. What are the other astronauts going to do, kick me off mars? Kill me with a rock? That'd be fucked up

i think a lot of what makes hamilton appealing to tumblr and fandom culture is that it gives you the veneer of revolutionary politics (by loudly subverting the expected racial structure) while not actually challenging you. so it goes down easy with that ~spice~ of feeling like you're Nonproblematic

It's good that your ID has your address on it. If someone steals your wallet, it's important for them to also know where you live

It was the perfect balance of storytelling and mechanics. The random character gen encouraged players to flex their imaginations and come up with narratives about all the weird shit that happens. The combat is a heavily stripped down version of 4E that's just solid enough to ground you, keep you invested in the action and prevent it from devolving into unhinged chaos. The combat's quick and mostly focused on figuring out novel ways to use all the weird tech you find laying around. It didn't get bogged down in juggling a billion different abilities and status effects, the potential for rules lawyering was minimal. The stated ethos of D&D has always been "the only goal of the game is for everyone to have fun, and if the rules get in the way of that, the DM should ignore them," but I feel like the rules in Gamma World were actually designed around that ethos, it's not just lip service.

It's the only system where I felt like running a game was as fun as playing
