We all know the text editor "vi" is pronounced "six", but "vim" isn't a valid roman numeral, so how should it be pronounced?

@mhoye Nah I wondered if that would work, but Roman numerals don't let you mix subtractive and additive notation. 994 would have to be CMXCIV

We did not all know "vi" is pronounced six. It's vee
@chmod777 no you see, the v stands for five, and then the i stands for one, and when they're side-by-side like that, you add them together. It's a bit confusing if you're only used to arabic numerals

No I understand where you are coming from but vim is still obviously pronounced veem
