It was relatively recently (mid 20s) that I learned there used to be a thing called a "pension", which was like an extra savings account that your employer had for you, and would continue paying you after working for them for X number of years as a reward for your hard work and loyalty, so you could live the last years of your life in comfort even if you aren't ultra-rich
I think more people my age would be upset about not having this if they were ever taught it was a thing
