When I was a kid I made a tape copy of the Nirvana CD "In Utero" by playing it on a Windows 98 computer one of my relatives had hooked up to a stereo system, but he had a G.I. Joe theme installed, and I was using the computer for other things at the same time, so the copy of the album I had was full of random samples of Cobra Commander shouting at people, and the real version of the album has never sounded quite right to me without the yelling
@matt @viciousviscosity when I was really young my cousins and I would record the audio from sitcoms on cassette and listen to them in the garage while we were “working”. I’m sure I heard nearly every episode of Three’s Company that way. So there would be random conversations and laughter in the background.
Also I can’t believe Three’s Company was actually a thing, thinking about it now.
@matt i would love to hear this tape digitized, the Cobra Commander mix of In Utero, as Steve Albini surely intended
@jplebreton I wish I still had it, all of my tapes from back then are long gone. But I'll always have my personal "COBRA! RETREAT!" remix in my head whenever I hear Heart-Shaped Box

@matt when I Kazaa'd "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind and burnt it to CD, a good 5 seconds of the song got corrupted or omitted, so now whenever I hear it I'm always expecting "I wish you would step back from that ledge, my frien-BZZT-all the lies that you've been living in..."
@wilbr Ah yeah, I kazaa'd a version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds in the same style. "Where rocking-horse people eaughledibly high..."
