I had to remove the man pages for openssl for some random reason, then a dependency on zlib wasn't resolved because XCode fuckery, now being told I need to rm -rf it and reinstall the XCode command line tools from a standalone package.
Apple has always been openly hostile to any developers who develop anything but iPhone apps so I'm kinda hoping their proprietary silicon ends macOS as the go-to Ruby developer platform so dev tool builders can focus full-time on making things work better in Linux.
