language prescriptivism is for losers
it's hot and sexy to just do whatever u want and create new meaning by intentionally misusing the words

@haskal@cybre.space language prescriptivists when I call them scrimbos. they hate it when I call them skrunkly

scattered thoughts on language prescriptivists

@haskal soft agree

there's this gray area between "formal" and "confusing" where it's cute, especially for short posts! some ppl overdo it a little and it's a bit hard to read tho. Not a problem if the post isn't serious.

if you're writing an Important Article about Serious Things then other factors come into play (accommodating machine translation+ESL and cognitive a11y calls for some prescriptivism) but my shitposts are Mine.

@Seirdy @haskal hard agree with your soft agree. as a person who tapped into linguistics at the uni, i’m hard against gatekeeping or freezing language in place. it can’t be. but we need to be careful with what we change and how much so we can still be able to communicate.

@haskal I just create new words that sound like a concept. I have an infinite number of words for walking weirdly.
