here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
"i don't wanna think about [persistent race-related issues on the fedi] i just wanna post about how gay i am"
is covert white supremacy
responding "i'm white BUT ..." to That Poll is covert white supremacy
Yes, this is a helpful chart, thanks!
I checked myself against it and I counted 17. wow.
( Also, I noticed that one word is given twice.)

@haskal YAP
re: here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
@haskal "Omg lets send this problem back to something I can ignore because it doesn't directly affect me and hearing about it makes me "sad""
here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
@haskal waht poll
here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
@132ikl there was a poll demonstrating a racism thing and the replies got filled with loud white people trying to equate racial discrimination with queer discrimination
here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
@haskal OK to boost? I don't wanna make it more likely that people will yell at you, but this is a good take.

@benhamill yeah
@haskal what is that poll that people keep mentioning? I haven't seen it
@Aleums there was a poll that essentially went "what decade do you wanna go back to" with the options "60s / 70s / 80s / I'm not white". a bunch of people either voted for that last option "because I'm queer/[other minority]" despite being white, or just blasted off in the replies about it, when it wasn't about them
@sobsz a good bit of people also got kind of aggressive or at least confrontational in those replies
likely ignorance
@amandag @Aleums @haskal mmm i mean i feel like "i'm not white" implies the other three options are indeed directed toward white people
and since there's no checkbox for "why would i want anything like that" the only option is to reply (or i guess do nothing at all, but again i think it's directed at white people so)
i'm probably very wrong about this
likely ignorance
@sobsz @Aleums @haskal the thing to not here is that there was a massive flood of replies all stating the same thing, meaning people didn't take the 30 seconds to read existing replies that explained what they wanted to know before yelling about not being included as a white person, and a significant portion of them were confrontational and implied the polls creator was excluding queer people.
likely ignorance
@sobsz @Aleums @haskal and it's not always the individual action (though in this case there definitely were replies that were /extremely/ sus), the main point is how those actions accumulate to drown out the voices of black people, and serve to reinforce that not catering to white people is not acceptable
likely ignorance
@sobsz also thanks for being willing to listen, a lot of people just dig their heels in when you point out this kind of stuff
here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
@haskal
It's fucked how racist it is on here. Not like I'm surprised, it just makes me sad.
here's the hot take and i'm not convinced y'all are ready for this
@haskal those moves got a real 'queer-flavored reply-guy'-vibe
check yourself. that's all i ask literally please check yourself
