"cut throat competition is just human nature" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person does 0 competition per year. Capitalism Georg, who lives in yacht & literally murders over 10,000 workers each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
anyway i was kinda looking for something to justify my original view when i read lord of the flies that it is just completely nonsense and heck i actually found it, so this is good
@haskal guy who wrote Lord Of The Flies is on record saying that he never meant it to apply to all humanity, just rich white guys.
@haskal I was going to say, in my head they're essentially saying "well, I'm that much of a psychopath, so everyone else is too, that's why this is the best system we can manage"
@haskal The competition inherent in human nature is not murderfest competition. It's the stealing a bit from the cooperative pot when nobody's looking and bullshitting a justification when you get caught kind of competition.
Well, that and killing strangers and weirdos when life seems to be getting worse.
Just to get it out of my system:
And anthropologist seem to agree that one of our key characteristics is cooperation between individuals and mutual services with other living things (liike plants).
It's true for many species, most primates are like this and ants are very social and cooperative (they even do agriculture so....)
