Straw poll:

How do you guys feel about ? I've been using for a few years now. And, of course, there's plenty of on any servers I don't spend a decent amount of time in. I do occasionally play with , but always seem to stray back to zsh. Maybe 2019 and fish 3.0 will change that. We'll see!

@halfcutskeleton I was a user until I had to use Linux, then , then switched to when Shellshock bug happened. Never switching again.

fish had weird subshell behavior, in the short time I tried it, I can't live with that.

@mdhughes
Yeah I'm installing fish to try it again. I'll see how it goes.
Bash does it for me usually, I'm a bit of a noob in the terminal but fish does some nice autocomplete stuff.

@halfcutskeleton

@rtwx @mdhughes FYI, zsh can do the same autocomplete stuff with an extension.

I think the fish people are taking the right approach with 3.0 by starting to allow compatibility things for their users coming from lifetimes with other shells. Things like allowing `&&` and `||` in place of `and` and `or`.

@halfcutskeleton @mdhughes yeah that’s the reason I’m trying it again.

It’s great so far.
