yesterday I was lucky enough to ask a few questions from a few local #comic / #webcomic artists and learned some stuff
i'm gonna share them now since I'm just waiting for BRL-CAD to fail building a bunch of modules

(it's an X-MEN parody / a criticism of "the Hungarian mindset", a valid one as far as I can tell)

-mentoring is not necessarily the best way to support a creation
-they've been doing this comic for 15 years
-it's hard/impossible to write for a global audience when the problems your characters experience are very specific to your country
-they really don't like unsolicited advice
-everyone thinks they are an expert at art

(these probably won't apply to yall US and UK and such folks)
(also, these are their opinions unless otherwise noted)
-it is impossible to earn a living wage doing comics in this country
-the fans don't wanna pay either
-conventions aren't much help either
-people here absolutely fucking suck at coming together to support a common cause
-the artists don't like comic critics
-the critics don't like them either
-if you don't live in Budapest, you are considered a village idiot in the art world
