Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is not a perfect movie.
Cassandra Cain is a poorly chosen name for a character who resembles the comic version not at all.
Some of the pacing in the first half could have been snappier.
Apart from that it’s a feminist Guy Ritchie gangster film crossed with Deadpool the movie, and it’s fabulous. Two canonically queer main characters (Harley is blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, but Renee Montoya’s ex-girlfriend appears on screen as an important part of her character arc.) Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress is adorkable, and could have done with more screen time. The fight scenes are fun, the drama is fun, the empowerment theme is fun, the whole movie is fun.
I listened to music last year. Here's some of it: https://flowerysong.com/posts/2020/01/music-of-the-year-2019/
More words, not necessarily more useful words: https://flowerysong.com/posts/2020/01/my-year-in-books-2019/
In 2019 I read 100,032 pages across 352 books.
My favourite non-rereads were:
Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames (The Band #2)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 by by Jordie Bellaire, Dan Mora, and Raul Angulo
Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers (Wayfarers #3)
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire (Wayward Children #1)
