me: you know what? maybe i'm being too harsh on windows... after all, linux has its problems too, and even software that runs well on wine often needs extra effort, and needing the console to do some tasks isn't user-friendly…

and sure, O for "good" and X for "bad" may not be intuitive for some in the west, but X is also used for "no", and O is the first letter in "OK"

controls hot take: the west should have used the japanese playstation button layout, with [circle] as the "select" button and [cross] as the "cancel" button. it would have matched the SNES layout and avoided lots of confusion.

as someone who's white and lives in the developed world it's sometimes easy to instinctively think that the colonizers obviously _were_ the more civilized people (which, even if it were true, would not justify the genocide, the stealing of land, the destruction of culture), but then i remember that these same "civilized" societies were terrible for anyone who's not white, or not a man, or not christian...

kinda surprised modern-day machines can emulate the nintendo switch with good performance

about 10 or so years ago, pretty much the best i could hope for is lagless dreamcast emulation, and even that relied on hacks and assumptions that broke compatibility
