probably the most disappointing thing is seeing developers of open source desktop environments clearly spending lots of time cleverly designing their user interfaces, only to have someone discover that it fails on some seemingly trivial thing

but also, it kinda sucks that any big company can easily introduce their next big thing that requires massively reworking user interfaces (high-dpi monitors, multitouch / gestures, variable scale) and everybody else has to instead play catch-up
