it kinda sucks how much money and work was put into every single detail of gta v's world, only to have it filled with cynical jokes at the expense of everybody.
of course, a game about criminals doing crimes can't all be wholesome, but _wow_ is the general outlook depressing.
Maybe you should try something more cheerful and positive, like Fallout 4? :)
@devurandom give the Yakuza series a try, same or better attention to detail but filled with reflections on all aspects of life - rarely depressing (except that one time when your actions accidentally result in people being taxed more) :)
@mulander i was actually thinking about trying some of these games out, especially as sega announced a ton of pc ports coming soon.
@devurandom I was sceptical about Yakuza - don't regret a single penny spent on it and loved every minute of gameplay. Finished Yakuza 0, now going through Kiwami 1 (waiting for 2 to come out) I also have 6 in the backlog.

@devurandom How does its overall worldview compare to The Wire?
@devurandom sidenote: I'd play a GTA-esque game with a protag in a bonnot gang-esque group, tbh
