I discovered this about 8:30 this morning, and as much as it pained me to intervene in this budding, auto-responder romance, I finally put a stop to it. Myself and a sysadmin at Wells Fargo had a pretty good chuckle over it.
😆 😆 😆 this makes me think of old sysadmin listservs in the earlier days of the internet and it makes me happy.
From a library technology listserv:
Last Thursday, someone used our scanner to send something to a generic email address at Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo has an auto-responder for that email address, and it sent a message back. I have an auto-responder set up for the email address that our LDS sends from, and it sent a response to their auto-responder, to which it... auto-responded. They have been having that conversation since Thursday afternoon, to the tune of 6168 messages sent back and forth.

I brought up with my wife how I think the first year of marriage is probably the easiest, because it’s all new and you don’t have to deal with the reality of living with each other. And I said the first year of having a baby was kind of the same (which I’m not sure I actually believe).
And then she said: “after <our son> was born I wanted to divorce you, but I knew it was just the hormones.”
He is NEARLY TEN and this is the first I’m hearing of it!
