I have a situation with a Discord bot that talks to a variety of microservices. I have a single Raspberry Pi to run them on. Would Kubernetes be a good fit (using microkube) or can I get away with just Docker?
@dconley I think kubernetes is overkill here. Honestly, I think docker is overkill here too.
@mattgen88 your face is overkill.
I was looking for the ease of “upgrading”, restoring after reboot, etc.
(Plus learning how to be Modern and all that)
@dconley yeah... well... YOUR face is overkill, how about THAT
I typically use supervisord to restart services after failure/reboot. Dockerizing can buy you dependency isolation (running databases in their own container, for example). Create volumes for your database data, stick your app in a container.
Not sure what k8s would buy, other than maybe deployability to AWS?
@mattgen88 That’s good to know. Especially since it was... not going well tonight. I’ll try other stuff tomorrow.
